Simple But Beautiful

July 10, 2020

The first two photos are for a house in the area behind the Giza pyramids plateau. Nothing is extraordinary about the house, or fastidiously ecological. Just simple material, and some tweaks in common mainstream items, such as the shutters, and you get real harmony with the area, including colour: Something different from the shanty settlement in the vicinity of the pyramids, or the proposed development of the area which will be a commercialization similar in outlook to an Ibiza or Sharm El-Sheik. By the way, I enjoy Sharm but this is a different concept.

The third picture is for what seems to be a warehouse on the outskirts of an industrial, mining area or something of sorts. The same philosophy of the aforementioned house is employed in the building.

The fourth picture is for a typical Egyptian village or shanty house under Mubarak. The Church is different in its local natural character though one has to reiterate that this one in particular is exceptional since village churches are not different from the red-brick structures shown.

The point is that with simple, but intelligent, approaches the face of the ‘invisible’ Egypt can change.
